A native of New England, Chylese came to real estate via an extended tour of sales duty in the semiconductor industry, in which she managed major western US accounts and ultimately negotiated 7-figure capital equipment purchases to large manufacturers. She woke up in hotel rooms so often that her mornings sometimes started with a glance at the nightstand stationery to remember what city it was.
Portland beckoned in 2000. Smitten with the original character of her 1920’s Cape Cod in the Laurelhurst neighborhood, she began haunting local reproduction lighting resource Rejuvenation, and devoured Jane Powell’s books on vintage kitchens, baths, even floor coverings. On the weekends, Chylese toured Open Houses for ideas and inspiration … a lot. Finally, the addiction overtook her. She got her real estate license and never looked back.
Now in her thirteenth year selling Portland homes, Chylese has become a respected, inner-city residential specialist; her sales place her in the top 5% of all Portland metro-area Realtors for several years running. She strives to make Inhabit’s identity aligned with the kind of Portlander she has become – collaborative, yet in love with its infectious DIY culture and perfect storm of creatives and local bounty within the food & wine scenes; our “bike passion” epidemic; and the rich creative writing and music communities (the latter of which her husband Eric has joined as a jazz saxophonist). She likes to see the diversity of Portland’s neighborhoods and insightful urban planning keeping them robust and exciting places, and the growing popularity of foreign language immersion programs in local public schools, where her young daughter is now bilingual and thriving.
Chylese’s deep pockets of professional sales experience – particularly the art of negotiation and strong writing abilities – are skill sets she believes to be critical tools, at times overlooked in an Internet-driven age. Clients rely on real estate agents to communicate effectively and to provide informed guidance. She is passionate about the caliber of her company’s roster being at the highest level, and her mantra is that there is always room for innovation and improvement!
It was always a pleasure to work with Chylese and we appreciated her patience, friendly personality and soft sales approach…The ability for Chylese to leverage her relationships with her contractors, real estate agents, our mortgage broker, appraiser and title company in a short period of time was truly impressive and created a win win situation for everyone.
We fully recommend Chylese to anyone looking for a Real Estate agent that brings a solid business skill set, great personality, and contacts developed through years in the Real Estate business.

Chylese was wonderful to work with. She walked us through every step of the purchase, explaining everything in clear and concise detail, and protected our best interests throughout the process. Plus she's just fun to be around! By far the best realtor we've ever used and highly recommended.

Chylese is a top notch professional who made our buying experience a smooth process. She thought about so many details we never considered and explained everything. Chylese has great connections with other 5 star professionals like inspectors and our mortgage broker. She set spot on expectations and communicated with us throughout each step. Most of all she listened to us up front. She knows her business and the Portland market! We felt confident throughout the purchasing process having her on our side.
I would highly recommend Chylese Austin to anyone who is looking to sell their home. She is an expert and was invaluable in helping me prepare my home for the market. Her suggestions helped me receive multiple offers all over asking price on the day of listing. She is both professional and personable and made the entire experience seem easy. It is worth your time to talk with her. You will be glad you did.
Chylese and her team were amazing to work with. As first time buyers, my fiancé and I were a little anxious and had lots to learn. Chylese always took time to explain the process well and we never felt rushed or pressured. We now live in our dream house and would recommend Chylese and Inhabit to anyone looking for a house in the Portland area!
We worked with Chylese on separate occasions to both purchase a home and sell a house we had as a rental. From both buyer and seller perspectives Chylese was an exemplary agent. She is very knowledgeable about the area, has an excellent eye for value and for spotting trouble areas. She and her team were always easily accessible, responding quickly to questions, problems, everything. Her contacts with tradesmen able to make repairs, inspect, and give estimates was very valuable. She negotiated a very fair purchase price for the home we bought and marketed our house for sale with excellent results.
